ATHENS, GA – According to Nationwide Report, 1 person was injured in a multi-vehicle crash that took place on I-85 in Jackson County on Thursday.
The crash occurred on I-85 SB near Highway 129 and involved a Dodge truck, a Toyota car, and 5 tractor-trailers. Authorities say the incident took place after a driver of a tractor-trailer failed to properly change lanes ahead of the Toyota. The Toyota struck the rear end of the tractor-trailer, which caused it to hit a second tractor-trailer, beginning a chain-like reaction of multiple other crashes, which included a Dodge truck and three other tractor-trailers.
The driver of the Toyota sustained minor injuries in the accident and was taken to a local hospital for treatment. No other injuries have been reported at this time.
