Narrative
NEWNAN, GA – A man driving a Mercury Sable did not maintain stay in his lane and lost control of his car, leading him to crash into a tree and die from his injuries Tuesday.
This single-vehicle collision happened before 12:45 p.m. on Highway 34 East, adjacent to Ishman Ballard Road. Georgia State Police said that when the driver — Todd Pitts — overcorrected, it led the vehicle to turn counterclockwise prior to the collision with the tree.
Pitts’ front bumper did sustain some damage, and Pitts was taken to Piedmont Newnan Hospital, where he later died.
