Narrative

TOOMBS CO., GA – Two people died, and two others went to the hospital after a solo crash caused by a drunk driver along GA-130 in Toombs County.

The incident happened around 1 a.m. on Saturday, March 9th, near the intersection with Kingswood Drive. This is between Petross and Vidalia.

Police say that 18-year-old Lauren Wilcher was intoxicated when she lost control of her vehicle, left the highway, and struck two trees. The vehicle overturned, killing an 18-year-old and a 19-year-old at the scene. Authorities identified the victims as Brooke Williamson and Kyle Jackson.

Wilcher and a third passenger went to the hospital with serious injuries.

Upon her release from the hospital, police charged Wilcher with DUI, reckless driving, and two counts of homicide with a vehicle.

The investigation is ongoing.
