Man, 58, dead following car-pedestrian crash in Marietta

MARIETTA, GA – A man died from his injuries after he was struck by a car in Marietta Tuesday, Fox 5 Atlanta reported. 

The accident occurred at the 800 block of South Marietta Pkwy SE. The 58-year-old man was walking along the Marietta Park and Ride Lot when he was hit by a 2007 Nissan Murano. 

The 58-year-old man was identified as Benancio Lasarte. 

Lasarte was transported to Wellstar Kennestone Hospital, where he was later pronounced dead. 

The driver of the Nissan was identified as Leopoldo Castillo, 64, of Smyrna. 

It is unclear if Castillo will be facing charges. 

No further information is available.
